ARTIST BIOGRAPHY
George Ioannou
George Ioannou was born in Croyden, South London in 1974. His early inspiration came from the comic book heroes of the late 1960sand1970s, and having gained his art A-level, his early ambition was to be a cartoonist.
For a time though, he found himself working in estate agency, though never lost his passion for art, and was always more drawn to the interior aesthetic rather than the bricks and mortar of the properties he worked with.
To answer his desire to be involved in more creative profession, George studied television and film, which in turn brought him back to the screen icons who had influenced his life, whose craft he admired, such as Al Pacino. He then began to take on numerous acting roles, both on the big screen, including Die Another Day, and on television, in The Bill,
Ultimately it was buying his own house that brought George back to creating art. Faced with bare walls, he visited art galleries, but couldn’t find anything that truly inspired him. So he painted his first canvas, of Al Pacino in Scarface and as he says; “the house loved it…!.
Eventually, with the encouragement of everyone who saw and loved Al Pacino, George was persuaded to paint a series of work for publication.
For his first series of ‘icon’ images, George has painted by choice, the film and film stars that, inspired him personally the most. He works in acrylics on canvas, taking many hours to select and draw the initial images by hand, determining the balance of form and shading
needed to capture the mood of the piece.
He then chooses and mixes his colours to further enhance the vibrancy and emotion of the image, before finally applying paint to canvas.
While George Ioannou’s work may be referenced to that of the great 1960s artist Andy Warhol and the whole ‘pop-art’ genre, he reintroduces us to this style in the new Millennium
with his own unique palette. |

SIMON BULL
Biography
Born in 1958 Simon studied art at both
Cheltenham and Leeds Colleges of Art. He has built up a
phenomenal reputation as a printmaker, both on the home and
international market with his vibrant and unique style of
monotype etchings. This has culminated in his nomination for
the 1997 Fine Art Trade Guild, Best Selling Artist of the Year
Award and numerous sell out one man exhibitions including one
at the prestigious Harrods Gallery and International Fine Arts
in Nottingham.
Placing great emphasis on purity, brilliance
of colour and freedom of expression, Simon had come to feel
increasingly stifled by traditional techniques and began to
experiment with new ideas. From this he developed a new
process which he called 'monotype etching'. Each piece is hand
printed and then hand coloured using inks, pastels and gold
foil. Every print is therefore unique and although at first
glance each appears to be the same there will be a subtle
difference which add to their originality.
Simon is also known as an artist who
produces fine original paintings both on paper and on canvass.
These stunning pieces have gained him a huge following in both
the UK and the USA where this oils sell for commanding prices.
Simon continues to produce stunning new
collections of work, all of which have a wonderful sense of
vibrancy and warmth, the hallmark of Simon's phenomenal
talent. He is an artist who finds inspiration in so many
subjects be it flowers, music, landscapes, figurative or
wildlife; he is truly inspired by the beauty of the world
around him. The sheer brilliance of his talent makes him,
without doubt, the UK's leading contemporary artist.
"The garden is full of wonderful dramas,
with the cycle of life being played out right before us - the
poppy buds swim towards the light as the wild, flaming petals
push their way to freedom. Beside the nodding blooms, empty
seed pods ripen and swing in the air".
